Development Education is an educational process which aims to increase public awareness and understanding of the rapidly changing, interdependent and unequal world in which we live.

By challenging stereotypes and encouraging independent thinking, Development Education supports people to explore how global justice issues interlink with their ordinary everyday lives and it engages people in analysis, reflection, and action.

Development Education empowers people to analyse, reflect on, and challenge the root causes and consequences of global hunger, poverty, injustice, inequality and climate change; presenting multiple perspectives on global justice issues.

This game, RACE TO THE BOTTOM, sets out to explore the effect of corporate-led globalisation on countries and workers rights.

When using this activity, questions you can explore include: 

• What are the positives and negatives about corporations for people and planet in 'rich' countries such as Ireland, and poorer countries throughout the world?
• Is everything black and white when it comes to government(s) decision-making?
• What might need to change or to be put in place to get a fair result for everyone?

It is a sometimes challenging game but it causes participants to think about the different players, including themselves, in this whole process and asks what could be done differently.
